Assoc. prof. Aysel Cetinkaya, Kocaeli University, Turkey
Developments in information and communication technologies have enabled the concept of convergence to be used frequently in today's digital age. Especially nowadays Twitter platform is one of the most famous one since Alon Musk has bought the platform. The convergence culture, which defines the sharing of a content over various media environments, the cooperation between various media environments, and the search for the audience, listeners or users using the media to find the entertainment experience they want, has allowed both the convergence of content and environments and the participation of individuals in the content production process. Social networks are one of the most powerful platforms of today's digitalization process. The increasing use of social media platforms has made the use of these technologies an important part of daily life. Being active on social media platforms as both producing and consuming individuals and having knowledge of media products and relations requires having the experience of convergence culture. In the study, traditional media and social media platforms will be considered as complementary platforms, not interchangeable. The aim of this study is to consider the social media platforms where users participate/produce within the context of convergence culture. In the light of these foundations, examples of convergence between traditional media and new media will be examined through the example of Twitter, one of the most used social media platforms.
